Sunshine, Salt Water, Winding Roads, and Limoncello

The highlight of my entire trip in Europe was my travels in Sorrento, the Isle of Capri, and the beautiful Amalfi Coast! I would love to live there. Everything about it was amazing - the food, the atmosphere, the scenery, and the beaches.

We left for our three day journey from Rome. On the way to Sorrento, we stopped in Pompeii to explore the ruins. It was amazing to see structures and even paintings from over 2000 years ago that were still fairly intact. Of course, the most remarkable being the bodies encased in ash. We stayed at a great camping village in Sorrento that had the most amazing views. We did some Limoncello tasting and had some cheap Italian beers while enjoying the views of Mt. Vesuvius from Sorrento. We took a boat to the Isle of Capri and spent an entire day exploring Capri, Anacapri and soaring to the top of Mount Solaro on the lift. The second half of the day was spent on the beach in the crystal blue salt water at Marina Piccola, with the most amazing view of the surrounding cliffs. I didn't ever want to leave. On our final day, we drove back towards Rome along the remarkable and scary winding cliff roads of the Amalfi Coast. We made stops in Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello. We experienced breathtaking views, delicious Italian cappuccinos and pastry, and a lovely boat ride to see the cliffs around Amalfi. Pictures don't do justice to the beauty of these places!
