The Best Rum Punch I've Ever Had: Circumnavigation Tour of Antigua

While on my trip to Antigua in November, 2012 our group of travel agents went on a fantastic excursion for a day. The company we toured with is called Excellence. They offer several boat tours of the island. I highly recommend the tour that I did, the `Circumnavigation Tour of Antigua`.

The catamaran parked on the beach serving lunch.

We went bright and early to catch this tour as it really lets you see the whole island, and see just how many beaches there are. We met the catamaran at the port in St. John`s. The group we went with was really small, so it was fantastic, not crowded at all, and we had great service, too.  This boat trip is definitely worth the price of the ticket because of its’ length (6 hours), and what is included. The hosts were very entertaining and try to make everyone laugh while sharing information about Antigua.

This 6 hour catamaran around the entire island of Antigua, leaves from St John’s at the port, and can make additional stops (it stopped at the Sandals resort to pick up extra people). It is $110 per adult, $65 per child. This price includes lunch grilled right on the boat (usually chicken or fish - it was delicious), an open bar with unlimited rum punch, servers throughout the whole day and on the beach, as well as information about the island.

You get to see the calmer Caribbean beaches of the island, as well as the more mountainous ocean side of the island.  The guides point out celebrity houses and places of historical significance. There is a wonderful stop at a secluded beach that allows people to either snorkel (gear provided for free), or just relax on the beach and get served rum!

Overall, it was a great day, and a fantastic way to see the whole island.  Check out all of their tours here:
